Africa, Asia, Americas, Europe... For 20 years, the Region Rhone-Alpes cooperates with many regions of the world. Whether economic, cultural, scientific or relates to development aid, this collaboration allows the Region to work for the public interest. These collaborations are intended to encourage the development of economic, cultural and academic exchanges on the basis of regional skills: economic development planning, training, support for decentralization, while working towards the goal of development and international solidarity.
The Region has established regional partnerships in Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali and Madagascar. In Mali, the region cooperates with the Region of Timbuktu, Senegal with the regions of Saint Louis and Matam, in Burkina Faso with the Region of the High Basins, and in Madagascar with the province of Tamatave.
To facilitate exchanges between these regions, a cooperation project has been created: the "Cell Partnership Exchanges and Rhone-Alpes, West Africa, Madagascar" (CEPRAOM). Exclusive in France, this tool allows cooperation to pool and promote linkages and inter-African exchanges of experiences. Examples of joint actions: support to decentralization, vocational training and university.
For example, the Senegalese region of Matam and Saint-Louis and the Region has contributed to the creation of vocational training courses, the development of water infrastructure, the creation of a learning center for youth and the establishment of a micro-credit program.
In recent years, in partnership with the Association ECIDEC, the Rhône-Alpes has launched a fund to support local initiatives in Matam. Developed in collaboration with three microfinance institutions, this program enables farmers, ranchers and artisans receive funding and specific support to facilitate the realization of their economic initiatives.
In this case, Xetic specifically supports projects of the "Mutual Savings and Credit Bamtaaré".
